Here you have some information about this typical cloth.
The first T-shirts were cotton undershirts given to American sailors in 1913 to hide their “shocking” chest hair. At the same time, US soldiers in Europe discovered cotton under shirts. The soldiers preferred these to the wool undershirts, which were part of their uniform.
